Quality Statement
for Acid-etched Mirrors and
for Glass Acid-etched on both Sides

SURFACE DEFECTS

Float glass is best etched on the “atmosphere” side of the sheet, due to the increased likelihood of impurities and/or surface imperfections on the “tin” side of the sheet. Because the production of acid-etched mirrors and two-sided etched glass requires that the tin side be etched, there is a significant risk of defects being present in the etched surface. Walker does make every effort to minimize the occurrence of surface defects. However, as such defects are beyond Walker Glass’ control, Walker cannot guarantee the surface quality of Walker TexturesTM acid-etched mirrors or two-sided etched glass products.

GLASS CUTTING

Walker TexturesTM acid-etched glass sheets are cut most easily by scoring the unetched side. When cutting etched mirrors or glass which is etched on both sides, the etched surface can be scored, however, increased cutting pressure is required. When scoring on the etched surface, cutting pressure should be tested prior to cutting stock sheets. Due to the inherent difficulty in cutting by scoring the etched surface, Walker Glass cannot guarantee the cuttability of the glass and will not be responsible for losses due to poor cutting.
